    Default Parcel2Go madness

    Very strange management here

    Peak period penalisation

During the holiday season, effective from November 4th, 2019 until January 10th, 2020 these parcels will also incur an additional temporary surcharge. This Peak Surcharge will be a flat fee per parcel and will be in addition to the standard surcharges that are applicable all year round. Please see below the specifications for each surcharge:

    Std parcel charge £7.80 . Surcharge £5.00 Total £12.80

    Large parcel £36.40 , Surcharge £48.00 Total £84.40

Over max limits £92.00 surcharge £77.00 Total £169.00

Basically If you are slightly out on the size or weight as they have your card details they will take the extra money

My solution is " I won't be using P2Go Simple

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

In think these are not increases in prices but increases in penalties if you underdeclare the weight or size? You can be a bit sympathetic to them since they'll be snowed under at this time.

What really pisses me off with courier companies is the insurance money you have to pay in case of loss or damage and they baulk about paying up when either happens

Pardon me, but in whose care is it when either happens? Or do they hire special people on contract to damage your precious goods in transit? I would expect some duty of care from the morons they hire as drivers to at least not bust the item when loading and unloading, so that is already part of the money you pay for the shipment. The reason for my rant? Parcelforce managed to damage a CD player I shipped last week
    CD player = Marantz CD6006
    DAC/pre = Rotel RC 1572
    Power amp = ADA PF201

The Vincent? That's annoying is it just cosmetic? If you have the original box, which I think you said you have, they generally pay out.

The box is undamaged, there was no damage to the player's case, but the laser isn't reading any discs now. Doesn't take too much rough handling for them to fail.

I have offered to fit a new laser mechanism and the buyer seems happy with that solution. Will use UPS when it goes back.

Could just need recalibrating shame to take out a perfectly good laser unless necessary. I wouldn't know where to start mind you!

I totally agree with the insurance.....rip off.
The courier take your money and as far as I'm concerned, the safety of the parcel is entirely in their hands.
You wouldn't go and buy, say a phone and then accept it if it was broken. The seller is responsible as it was in their hands, or the manufacturer.
How can you take money to deliver something, then damage or lose it and turn round and say you are getting sweet FA because you didn't pay insurance.
I do use Parcel 2Go all the time, Hermes to be precise and have never had a problem with Hermes.
If it came down to it I would pursue every possibe Avenue to claim back the value of my goods.
The price of the insurance needs to come down to a reasonable amount before I would even consider it. As I said though, we shouldn't have to pay for a loss that's down to the company dealing with your parcel.
