Default Free - excellent large v strong box for posting

My SP10 MK2 was shipped in this to Angus Phonomac, a while ago from Italy.

I remember him saying, on receiving it that the deck was packaged properly / beautifully.

The work on the SP10 has been done and I received it today. Again Angus commented on how good the box was/is and made me take a close look at it.

It is here sitting in my back lounge / system room and I just cannot bring myself to try and cut it up to go in the recycle bin.

Not only would it be a bugger to cut through (it is one tough, proper box) it would be such a waste when someone would definitely appreciate a proper substantial box like this, for sending something precious.

This box is very reassuring indeed and I reckon would cost a few quid too.

It also has some serious tuffoam packing inside

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Why not?

Quad, for example, will only handle items sent to them if they are in approved packaging. They sent me an empty box, for me to send an item back to them for service.

I sent a 33 to them a couple of years back in 'non-original' packaging. They accepted it for repair with no question at all.

However, they did charge me £18.80 for an 'approved' box for the return journey - in fact they insisted on it (possibly for insurance purposes?)

After Sugden upgraded my amp they sent it back in a strong double walled box with bullet proof padding that fits neatly around the amp - all free of charge. Customer satisfaction!

Cos Robbie ain't getting any business out of it I would suggest. Though he might send it for cost I suppose.

Its the irony that had me laughing.
