However, it's not like I'm 'out and about' all that much and coming into contact with communal surfaces on a daily basis [computer keyboards in offices and such like are the worse], or mingling much with the general public, or have kids bringing in germs from school. The majority of the time, I'm alone indoors or with Del, and thankfully she's not the type who catches colds or flus easily either.

What puts me off getting the flu jab isn't any fear of needles, but apparently afterwards you can experience mild symptoms of the flu (as you're essentially being injected with a strain of the virus, which acts as an antidote), and I can't be arsed feeling unwell (in any way, however temporary), simply to be immunised against something I rarely get.

never had that so far.. im not bothered too much by needles, as i just dont look

That's assuming that two weeks on it had anything to do with the flu jab at all. I've been having the jab for over ten years and have never experienced any after effects of any kind. It's a sight better than catching a full on dose of flu.

Unlike the shingles jab I had a week or so ago, which is still red and itchy.

Hope you don't get it either. I don't intend finding out any time soon. I seem to have a pretty strong constitution and good immune system. However, as you get older you're less able to fight off such things, and real flu in an older person can be a very serious matter.

So.... I might treat myself to wee jab-ette for my 70th birthday!

Hope it clears up soon, Geoff.

With the flu jab, I think it largely depends on the individual. I've known folks who get weeping eyes and sniffles, and/or feel like crap for a few hours, or even a day or so afterwards, but most people seem to be ok.

Had mine a couple of weeks back. Have had them for five years or so, never had any adverse effects from needle or contents thereof.

Well, apparently the serum used for flu jabs is similar to that applied in penis enlargement, so next time you're there, pop out your flaccid two-inches, and see if the nurse can 'assist'...
