Had it a couple of weeks ago. It hardly requires any bravery.

Never had a flu jab. Probably only had *proper* flu about six times in my life, if that - and none, touch wood [touches his big bonce] for about seven years... I've not even had a cold, or so much as a sniffle, in about 4 years.

I don't mingle much with people, other than friends and family, or spend a lot of time anywhere I'm liable to pick up germs or viruses, so unless Del brings it into the house, I'm generally (naturally) flu-free

i use hand sterile gel when im out. got it in car etc. your more likely to catch things off of surfaces like trolleys and doors. so a use the gel when i get back to car. that and the jab, which ive had every year bar one for a long time. im in the very high risk group apparently.

That's a very good point, and so do we - when we remember... It's an effective preventative measure

However, it's not like I'm 'out and about' all that much and coming into contact with communal surfaces on a daily basis [computer keyboards in offices and such like are the worse], or mingling much with the general public, or have kids bringing in germs from school. The majority of the time, I'm alone indoors or with Del, and thankfully she's not the type who catches colds or flus easily either.

What puts me off getting the flu jab isn't any fear of needles, but apparently afterwards you can experience mild symptoms of the flu (as you're essentially being injected with a strain of the virus, which acts as an antidote), and I can't be arsed feeling unwell (in any way, however temporary), simply to be immunised against something I rarely get.

Had mine about 3 weeks ago just a bit of an aching arm muscle where the needle went in for a couple of days afterwards, then after about two weeks feeling decidedly rough, shivery and under the weather which maybe lasted for 6 hours. (Never had this feeling rough before and I have the flu jab every year for the last 10 years or maybe more)

A case in point, from my last post! Sorry to hear that, Andy.

This sort of thing might be unlikely, or rare, but for me feeling that way because of something that was essentially self-inflicted would go against the grain and be a royal PITA, as I'm just not used to feeling ill. However, I fully realise that contracting full-blown flu would be rather worse, but with my history so far, I'm willing to take the risk.
