That's equivalent to £250 per unit plus £50 for the middle shelf!
Custom made to my specs, and delivered from the North East?

I was quoted £2.5k elsewhere for something rather more nicely finished and may well go down that route at some stage however I think these are a reasonable stop gap.

I guess it depends how much you are used to spending on furniture.

True, good proper wood racks/furniture tends to cost unless of course you can find a way as well as have the time and real hand for doing a quality job yourself.

I recently had a tall bespoke rack done by HI-FI Racks Limited https://www.hifiracks.co.uk/collections/hi-fi-racks, solid oak, walnut stain finish.

It's been here weeks but I havnt even had the time to take it out of the box and put it together.

I think the £700 it's cost is to be expected. As you say Tom, it's furniture, quality, an enhancer to both the system and home (WAF factor and all that ) and that's how I see it hence the spend...

So is mine, brought back after a visit to Iran. A second one is a Kashmiri hand-woven silk rug, also lugged back by me to England. Both suffer serious 'rug meander', made worse since I had a new carpet fitted - they have to be straighten nearly every day. It drives me potty!

Funny the runners in the hall are Kashmiri and I have a couple of others - wool-silk finely woven - lugged back from Egypt. And yes they seem to move by themselves!

My equipment platform / record storage unit, was 'made to measure' for me by my late father - you can't get much more bespoke than that.

So will each level be 4 bits of mitred wood with a rectangular hole in the middle?

This will be rock solid once it's fixed together. Are you glueing as well as screwing / bolting? I suppose it depends if you want to be able to dismantle it again in future.
