    Default Making a new hifi rack

    Hi people , Due to the arrival of my new Transcription Audio pre power combo and how masive they are I will be making a new hifi rack for them to live on rent free at Audio Al establishment

    If anyone is intrested I can do a work in progress with photos of the construction ?

    Member ideas would be most welcome as the project develops

    I shall be using re cycled timber ( Iroko ) re claimed from a frend who works for a skip hire co , I had a call from him the other day saying " Al you got any use for some 4x2 Iroko timber , My reply was does the pope Oh hold on best not go there , A customer had taken down a conservatory and these were the roof beams

    Let me know if I need to charge the Kodak box brownie battery

    Would be very interested to see your work as it progresses. I have aspirations for my own build (though have nothing the size of your new tenants to accommodate) but haven’t developed any firm ideas yet, so would be keen to see how you get on!

    I'll be watching as I need to come up with something - up to about 6 feet wide, thinking reclaimed school science benches, and possibly supported with large diameter threaded bar - although not sure on the WAF for that.

    Some of the Ikea stuff works well with hifi. can usually be adapted fairly well too.. Im using an old unit that I adapted.

    I find it all a bit lightweight and floppy , Remember the weight is 65kgs just for the pre / power combo + about the same again for the 1200G and Pro-Ject PRM 10.1 TT's or maybe a bit more

    mine is pretty rigid . i could stand on it im sure if i could get up lol. certainly sat on it

    Brilliant idea. Too many items around today that look like everything else and cost way too much. Would love to see some bespoke designs out there looking different at a price that is sensible.

    Here's hoping that you get what you visualise.

    Iroko's nasty, if you're cutting, sanding or machining don't skimp on suitable PPE
