    Default FS: Radford M90 speakers

    I had forgotten I had these speakers which I was hanging on for sentimental reasons. But realistically I will not be using them much so up for sale.

    Anyway restored Radford M90 speakers for £165 collected from London N2. Bring your own amp if you wish.

    Alternatively I can bring these with me to the Ascot show. I will be going on either the Sat 26th or Sun 27th Oct.

    Dimensions: H 74cm, W 31cm, D 27cm. 20kg (each).

    All original Radford badged drivers and all measure well.

    History:
    I got these from a friend in early 90s, used them for a few years and then migrated to Harbeths. Stored for a while and then given to a different friend. He then gave them back to me sometime last year and I then set about fixing them up and updating them.

    Plugged them back in today and super impressed with the sound. Loads of scale, texture and detail. Sound is not bound by the cabinets. Fast and wide ranging. Tight bass, rich mids and airy top. What's not to like.

    Work done:
    * All new caps (alcap and monocors) to original spec therefore very coherant sound
    * All new wiring
    * Where required new damping material used.
    * New gaskets installed.
    * New speaker cloth (Wilmslow black acoustic cloth).
    * light restore to veneer - light sanding, restore and varnish. A few nicks and blemishes remain but overall cabs look nice.

    Original Radford emblems present.

    “Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

    “You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    "You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

    “There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Here is the original Radford leaflet on their line up and shows where the M90 fits in.

    Radford always did make good speakers. These look to be in good condition and the asking price is quite reasonable. Good luck with the sale.

    I fully agree with you Barry.

    Been playing these speakers for a few hours now, throwing all sorts at it - they are stunning. Not quite there as compared to say the big Tannoys, but getting there. On a price/sq basis they beat the Tannoy Berkeleys hands down.

    Something for the weekend Sir?

    12 inch bass drivers, clean and tight, delicious mids and airy highs. Very amp friendly.
