Default FS: Music First Audio Classic Passive Magnetic Pre-amp

Continuing to thin out the collection…
Superb passive magnetic pre-amp using Stevens & Billington transformers. 6 inputs – 4 RCA, 2 Balanced
    Balanced and single ended outputs.
3 position earthing switch, +6dB gain switch
Works superbly with a wide variety of power amps, surprised me how well it worked with my class-D Lyngdorf.

I will own one of these again one day, I’m fairly sure of it.
    £1200 including UK postage, ono.

Hi Alan, excuse me if this is a daft question but does this work with either MC & MM carts or does it need additional SUT?
    Kind regards

This is a preamplifier, not a phonostage?

    Hi Oliver,
As I said it maybe a daft question but many pre amps include MC/MM switches & Music First make SUTs & Billington also well standalone as SUTs. Hence my question. Or maybe you are asking the question also given use of “?”?
    Kind regards

It is a TVC based device - a passive unit that can switch between 6 inputs (2 balanced and 4 un-balanced) with a separate transformer volume control. The latter being a transformer having 18 or so switchable tapping points on the secondary winding. When in the +6dB mode, selected by a switch on the back, the output is lifted by 6dB due to changing the number of turns on the primary winding.

It does not include an additional SUT necessary for use with MC cartridges.

Yep - this is a transformer-based passive preamplifier - not a SUT nor a phono stage. I goes between your source components (e.g. CD player, DAC, tuner, phono stage) and your power amplifier.

Still here and I'm still enjoying it, not hurrying to sell but.... make an offer!
