Sorry for the delay Bev. I really like it a lot, I would guess not much difference from the XS2 really, but it does have a nice MM phono stage built in now, which is nice, as I do spin vinyl every now and then. It still has the typical grippy character, yet seems to be more neutral than the older Naims, especially the Olive series. I really kind of like all of the Naims for various reasons, have had pieces of their kit since early 80's in one shape or another. Not the end all be all, but good, solid gear.

I bought it along with the newer ND5XS2 media streamer, as I was looking to replace my aged Uniti1. I kept looking at the newer Uniti series and almost bought a Star, but in the end, I just didn't want to put that much crazy money into an all-in-one again, although it did sound really good. My dealer gave me a great deal on the combo, and it came in much cheaper than the Star to boot, and now as technology changes in the digital world, I just have to update the streamer, not the amplifier. Made more sense to me. I kept my Uniti1 though, will put it to use in the bedroom, it still sounds really great, just not upgradeable anymore, the platform is old tech.

Have only had it a bit over two months now, enjoying it a lot. Seems to work with most any speaker I have, so no complaints! I take it your still really pleased with your ML/Maggies?

I’m back here now, 3pm and the usual wakes me up. Just made a cuppa and will see if I can doze back off.

Yes I did some extra stuff yesterday which I shouldn’t but had no choice as Sue is in hospital, she had her big operation on Monday, it went well and she is recovering, hopefully she will be home tomorrow, will need 6-8 weeks to get over it.

The extra stuff I did brought on the angina quite bad last night which is why I was awake for over hour.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
