Lol, so that's what I've got to look forward to?

Thankfully, so far, everything's still as 'firm & taut', as it should be, with nothing sagging (don't really have any wrinkles or 'bags'), and I can go for hours without needing a pish. TBH, my dad's largely the same, although at his age he has a few 'saggy bits', but only gets up for a pish once during the night and regularly enjoys a good 6 hours kip

Sounds about the same as me, which I think is just about right. If I was sleeping as deeply and as long as you do, I'd consider visiting the doctor or a sleep clinic, as it doesn't seem ideal.

An excess 2 hours kip per night equates to roughly 4 years of not living, and that's time you won't get back. And being 'dead to the world' is not evolutionary - if we lived in stone age times you would have been killed and eaten long ago

Lol - why? It's obviously what my body needs, and I've been like that since I was born! I've *always* been a 'sleepy head', been able to sleep anywhere at the drop of a hat and loved my bed! Plus, I'm fit and healthy, full of energy, bright and cheery, have a great appetite, and almost never ill - and most of all I'm totally HAPPY and contented!

So what's the problem?

Oh and I have a great appetite too, in fact I could eat enough for two. Doesn't mean I should eat that much though, as it's obviously NOT what my body needs.

Medical advice seems to suggest that between 7 and 8 hours of kip a night is optimal.

That assumes good quality sleep.

When I had a lot of problems in my life I'd go to bed exhausted and wake up 8 hours later feeling just as tired as when I went to bed.

I used to know an African bloke who had trained under the Maharishi Yogi and only slept once a week. The rest of the time if he was feeling tired he would just meditate for an hour or two.

Midnight till 6.30 is about it for me, so I think that's ok. And I usually have half an hour after my tea (while Emmerdale is on). And those hours aren't driven by having to go to work, it's about the same at weekends. I do also have to get up once for a piss most nights.

But you're missing that point... I've been like that for 55 years, and it certainly hasn't done me any harm!

If I had any underlying health or emotional conditions, due to 'oversleeping', I could see the point, but I don't - quite the opposite.

I'm rarely awake at 6.30am, unless the alarm is set to get up for something, and btw I have no problem whatsoever getting up if I *need* to, such as to catch an early flight somewhere or whatever.

However, my lifestyle dictates that I don't need to get up at that time [indeed don't need to do *anything* I don't want to do, which is one of the main reasons why I'm happy and contented]

I only have to get up for a piss if I've had a lot to drink before going to bed, otherwise no. Also, when you've got no real worries or stress, and your mind's not racing thinking about this, that or the next thing, you can go to bed and just SLEEP, which is why as soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm off!
