I'm never in bed much before midnight as a rule, but last night I was in bed by 11.15 and slept right through till 7.50. I had a different sort of dream than usual, as well; this was an action-packed adventure set in some African country, instead my usual dreams about work, which are even more boring than work was, plus I don't get paid.

In my 'action' dreams I always end up running out of ammunition. Freud would have a field day I'm sure. Dreams recently have been a confused mess, no strong storyline. A bit like a French film.

My 'work' dreams have become increasingly concerned about food; eg queuing up at a staff canteen and worrying that there'll be nothing left by the time I get served, or organising catering for an event and realising that there won't be enough to go around. Fighting mercenaries in the jungle made a nice change.

I don't ever dream about work. Might be because it's so dull there's just no material to work with, I don't know.

Kryten : According to Freud's lexicon of dream symbols, flying is supposed to be a metaphore for sex.

Rimmer : Absolute poppycock - I dream of flying all the time. It's certainly nothing to do with sex. It's always the same dream: I'm in a Boeing seven-two-seven, it can't take off. I'm sitting there with a tiny bag of nuts I can't get open. Then suddenly, after one giant tug - much to my embarrassment - the whole bag explodes over all of my crew. Now, tell me - because I don't see it - how on Earth is that anything to do with sex?

I never used to dream about work when I was working. I dreamed about my parents a lot after they died, and about the area where we used to live.

I rarely dream about anything that I can vividly remember afterwards, unless there's something particular on my mind. I just tend to sleep - VERY deeply - as soon as my bonce hits the pillow!

Getting harder to do that now, with these really warm days, as by the time I get to bed, the bedroom is like a freakin' oven!!

A hot/stuffy bedroom is about the only thing that stops me sleeping, but even that, not for long....
