Used to go see bands a bit. Localish stuff mostly, maybe up to 20 miles away. Most were shit, but you got the odd goodie. Saw Jack Bruce play local. Played an upright bass as well as the guitar

Started with 100cc class 1 nationa cart racing
Then LCAMC and AEMC Autocross racing using firstly a MK 1 escort then rebuilt into a MK11 escort
All steel 1600 x/flow ford , Cosworth crank rods and pistons , Cosworth A6 cam , Big valve head , Steel timing gears ( No chains here ) Steel light weight flywheel with a twin plate sintered bronze clutch , Full 5 port dry sup kit , Rocket close ratio gear box , Atlas Axle with limited slip diff , I built the engine and run it on the dyno so when fitted it was all set up and ready to race , Did that for about 5 years with good results , Some drag racing in a 5.7 ltr V8 competition altered

So why did you give it up, daftee, and buy a glorified electric-shopping trolley?

The fun doesn't need to stop when you're over 50

Sounds like lots of fun, I did several track days and some sprinting in a TVR Griffith, the did 2 years hill climbing in a strip out 85 Toyota MR2, it was getting too expensive to get to be competitive, need to strip the engine and rebuild with racing parts from USA taking it to 1800 and replacing intake/injection it would have been around 210bhp then but would have needed diff change and slicks, so I stopped.

    Still enjoyed 2 years.
