Every year when it's time to get my bike on the road, I have bike-related dreams. Last night I dreamt my bike was a moped, an ex-GPO Raleigh Runabout. Someone had damaged one of the mirrors, and stolen the other one. And the brakes didn't work Crashing at 22mph is not a good thing, luckily I woke up just in time.

I've not driven in more than 30 years but still have dreams about it sometimes and they always end in a crash. Usually it is an emergency and I am deemed the only one who can do it. My protests about not having a license are waved aside.

So we set off an it all goes fine but as soon as it comes to the point where I have to stop accelerating and brake my feet inexplicably won't move and we crash. Usually into some parked or otherwise stationary vehicles. I quickly decide that my only option is to do a runner and at that point I wake up.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Sounds more like an episode of Road Wars or Police Interceptors.

My 'dream crashes' usually come from going too fast round a bend, which I could never make. And sometimes I'm driving a bus with a seating position so high I'm above the tops of the houses. God knows how I avoid hitting them, in fact I don't.

Not much kip last night. I ended up sleeping on the sofa, which was marginally cooler than the bed. As much as anything this was so I didn't disturb Anita, who'd been awake since 2am that previous morning. Couldn't even read myself to sleep as the kindle's light attracted all the midges. Little bastards, it's not like they can read
