The only issue i had with my old rega derivative, the Inspire Quest, was that i always felt it was turning to fast.
Later discovered it was a common theme with the rega motors of old but it sounded fantastic to me. If you have one that turns at the right speed, id imagne it sounds very enjoyable. Not surprised about the Orbe and SME combo tbh.
Anyway, what really matters is that vinyl has managed to keep hold of you. Well done sir!

So the OP was selling a Michel + SME V, which is the one I believe that I was considering buying to replace my Linn, and now, far from leaving vinyl, he has gone in perhaps more deeply, though the cost was not stated. Ironic turn of events.

My P10 with factory fitted Apheta 3 cartridge was £4500.
An SME V new is £5200.
S'all relative.
The Michell/ SME V was my "Grail" turntable, and I pushed the boat out to make it happen.
Fantastic sounding deck, but very specific sounding.
My take, the only thing that matters is wanting to get up and put another record on...and another...and another...and another.
The Rega does that in ways I can't even categorise yet..just have that Pavlovs Dogs thing going on..."Man, what do I wanna put on next?!"
The Michell/ SME deck, always back of my mind that the spring bounce might not be perfect, what about the VTA, the feet levelling adjustment...
and so it goes.
Or it went.
End of the day, might not be your preference.
Keep an open mind, hear the kit for yourself and trust your ears.
