    Default What cdp to buy.

Currently use an old Misson pcm 7000 cdp (annoying remote rarely works) but wondering whether I could upgrade it significantly, or is it worth getting serviced? My experience of cdps is limited, and I've been looking around at the various old 90s ones you see on Ebay and other sites. The well known Sony ES ones get snapped up quick, so what other stand out models are out there? I understand Marantz made some sought after ones, cd73, cd75, which is best? The 6000 ose, or ki whatever...….Spend up to £300.

If you can find an Avondale Arcam I think that would suite your taste.

    Still available https://theartofsound.net/forum/show...antz+signature

This has been barely used and has been in the cupboard since I migrated to streaming.

Thanks, any more advice? Just throw out a few rated old 90s players so I can go searching Ebay, not Sony though, they're too well known. Something lesser known would be good, or is it worth getting the Mission serviced?

I bought my Daughter a Marantz 4004, I think it was? About 12 years ago. I got it because of all the positive reviews about its dependability. Once I had it, I found that it compared a lot to my older Sony ES deck. She still has it and it still works like new, so Marantz could be a good choice. I think I paid $400 when it was new, so a used one should be quite affordable.

    Default Trichord Genesis??

Hi - I am the Richard that sold you the Croft 25 preamp. Hope its still serving you well.
I would recommend a Trichord Genesis player. They are getting on a bit now but really nice sounding and should be well within your budget.
In my case, it took an upgrade to an Opus 21 to comprehensively best one.
