    Default CDs getting scratched

    Hi Guys

My DAC is out of commission at the moment so where I usually stream I have had to revert to playing CDs. In doing so I notice a few of them are scratched. I am very careful and try to be gentle however I can see they are scratched. I can only think this has been done by placing them in the CD player draw. Plastic against plastic. Has anybody ever used any padding on the draw to stop the hard plastic of the draw scratching the CD. Just something to stop direct contact with draw it probably only has to be thin, perhaps not even around just in perhaps three places.

    Many thanks
    Regards

    Bill

I wouldn’t worry provided they play OK, if any skip take them into your local Game store they have a resurfacing service which polishes away scratches.
If you keep the drawer grit free you shouldn’t do more damage. You could also use a little bit of non abrasive car polish on the discs which would give them added protection.

unlikely to be the drawer. front loaders can do damages but its often a different look. Moving about in their cases, being dropped etc or a dodgy mech that doesnt stop fully befor dropping cd can be issues. if they play ok then i wouldnt worry.. you can get scratch removing kits but not sure how effective they are.
when in the jukebox trade we got this a lot and cleaned them with duraglit.. the wadding type is best but from centre to outside, not in circular motion as you would a record. It can destroy tho so be careful

I had a problem CD player years ago, when I pressed eject it was still spinning on the tray as it came out, you had to remember to press stop first. If yours was doing it you'd certainly know about it though!

How do so many members know the intimate details of Marco's nether regions? I'm starting to get paranoid that there's a "special interest" sub forum I'm not invited to
