Crap Weather for September

Lovely afternoon here, but raining again now. Was supposed to be going to an American car show on Sunday (the Mid-Suffolk show ground is on the edge of the village) but the forecast looks dire.

Just a little bit of Sun makes you feel better.

Unfortunately, it's been chucking it down all day. On the bright side, the lawn really needs it and I don't have to spend 20 minutes watering plants.

Heavy showers all day here but cleared up after teatime and the sun came out for the last hour or so of daylight.

There are dead leaves in the gutters - sure sign of proper autumn starting. Only another month and the clocks go back and we're into perpetual darkness again.

Were they your gutters, and if so, did you clear them out? If not, you could get problems, as the rainwater will build up and have nowhere to go... Anyway, autumn is a lovely season!

Forecast shows sunshine and showers today and right through until Wednesday next week. Still haven't lit the wood burner or needed to have any heating on in the house, but that might change next week, as it's to get colder.

No the gutter in the street. I had some new guttering installed and the old parts cleaned earlier this year.

Good stuff - otherwise it encourages the development of dampness.

That's the problem though now and why there is so much flooding, as councils neither clear out gutters nor drains, and so they're so full of accumulated 'sludge', that as soon as it rains, there's little available space to house all the rain coming in, and so quickly overflow...

It's exact same now with rivers, as they're no longer dredged as they once were, so anytime it rains heavily, they burst their banks! Bloody cutbacks....

I reckon a pot of the problem with rivers flooding their banks will be deforestation and loss of green areas to make way for new housing and the roads supplying them. Where once the rains would have soaked into the ground or been taken up by trees and other plantlife, much of it now just runs into drains and then empties into the rivers. A lot of rural areas which may well have been green belt before have been given over to developers, which to me is plain wrong.

Not enough is made of inner cities and towns imo. Towns centres are dead while the population is moving to the outskirts
