“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Jeez, you wonder what drives folk to take that shite? Are their lives *that* bad that they have to block it all out....? Or what's the attraction?

IME some people will take anything that's going. Doesn't need to be any reason for it.

There's always a reason... No-one 'normal' (happy and contented with life) would touch that shit.

Sure, but you need to be pretty fucked up to take that shit. Even when I was a teenager, aside from the odd spliff and a few magic mushrooms, I stayed WELL clear of anything heavier. I didn't need to 'escape' from anything. There are plenty of such 'zombies' too around Wrexham town centre, mostly on 'spice'..

It's a sad reflection of our society.

I consider myself to be reasonably happy and contented with life, but if something looked like fun, I wouldn't let anyone tell me not to do it, preferring to do some research then make up my own mind. Amazing I turned out normal really. Having said that, this monkey dust does NOT look like fun I worry for the kids of today.

Lots of sunshine today to keep me happy and contented

I've noticed that people who have always been wealthy do a lot more drugs than people who have always been poor. You'd think it was just a question of economics and most of the time it probably is. But I've known a couple of poor people who totally cleaned up their act when they got wealthy, no more drink and drugs, healthy eating, running, cycling. And yet they were chronic users previously.
