    Default technics st9038 tuner

ive just splashed out on this technics st-9038 tuner on fleabay. Has anyone experience of it? As its a 1979 tuner I guess it would benefit from a service? Can anyone recommend me a diligent fm tuner service engineer please?
    thanks

Nice! Have you got the matching SH-9038 timer/preset unit as well?

Bought an old NAD 402 recently to replace my newly serviced 01 and it certainly doesn't need a service ! Tuners are different inasmuch as they may go slightly out of alignment (but who cares?) and there are lots of old tuners out there which have never been touched and still perform superbly.

NB. Oddly, I don't miss my 01 which I had for nigh on 20 years.

Yes, I heard one once and was impressed. Also, I’m sure it corresponds to the well known fact that things in two boxes are better than those in one!

Also agreed with the above - it’s unlikely to need any servicing unless something inside has gone properly wonky, but that should be obvious when you use it.

My view on the styling is

If you want a classic tuner get a classic tuner , Like a Marantz 4230
