    Default Valve advice needed

Hi All.................I recently mistakenly bought a NOS pair of Siemens PCC88 valves. I have some source items that use 6922 and /or E88CC
One item is my Audiomeca CDP another is a SWIX DAC 1.
How does the PCC88 differ and can it be substituted for the above
    Lumley Heliosphere Audiomods 5

    Audiomeca Talisman Highly Modded
    Audiomeca Kreatura &,SW1X DAC1

    Hovland Radia
    Ming Da 805 monos
Magnum Dynalab Etude, RWA Cassabria + LCD 3

The PCC88 has a slightly higher heater voltage of 7.6V as opposed to 6.3V of the others.

If you try it it will probably work to an extent but the heater will be under run and is not recommended.

Funny I've seen it said that this will prolong their lives! Although now I think about it, it's usually the sellers that say this!

    Hi Martin
If in doubt about the SW1X DAC I would drop Slawa an e mail - he may even recommend a substitute that can improve performance.

Up to 10% is the maximum without affecting performance or spoiling the heater efficacy, so 7.6 - 10% = 6.84V. 6.3 is just too low.

    Hi Chris
Yes I did get in touch with Slawa and he did reccommend a heavyweight version of the Russian E88CC he supplies and I've got one.
Only problem is that I mixed up the 2 of them and now I can't tell which is which

I do have a number of 88 variants which I can use (currently a Brimar) but hoped to be able to use the PCC88 as a pair in my other CDP when my CrossedSwords Teslas give up
I did find that the Russians were very detailed but overly bright for my taste

Whatever the theory I've run PCC 88s on 6.3v perfectly satisfactorily for a long time circa 5 years with no ill effects. So if you've got a pair, and you like the sound what's not to like? You won't harm your equipment
