Cool Hello! 10 year AOS forum veteran's first post!

So i signed up to this forum almost 10 years ago, so that i could have a chat with Stan about his DAC's. This is me getting around to posting for the first time! Been reading bits n bobs on here over the years and thought i had better show my face in the welcome area. I am rather fond of budget hifi gear having owned Beresford Dac's, x-can amps and Chinese amps like the little dot's.

    Welcome, Simon, at last!

Nothing wrong with budget gear - well chosen it can compete with and often beat high end gear, at least in my experience.
Not a few high end DACs and CDPs have been shown the door in my system over the years by Stan's offerings.

It would be interesting to know more about your system, and favourite components - with photos! - in the Gallery section.
And what music gets played chez Simon?

    Hello Simon. Welcome to AOS.

Just join in and chat with members, they're all friendly and there's a lot going on.

Can you please add a name and location to your profile, town, county or region will do. Thanks.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

I would say welcome, but as you've been here 10 years I'll say hello! Look forward to speaking again in 2029! Funnily enough I'd completely missed that my 10 year anniversary was earlier this month, and I came here to talk about Stan's Beresford DACs too. Still got it, still going strong after a decade, and hardly ever turned off!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
