Default Supertweeters from a Designers Perspective

Peter Comeau has been making a few very interesting posts over on the World Designs forum (who he used to own before heading off to China) relating to speaker design.

Take a trip over there and look around the WD Speaker threads.

For example follow the link below and pick up from post 25 - his comments on super tweeters now make a lot of sense to me and take away the misconceptions relating to them.

Nothing new there. It's more or less what I've been saying for the last thirty years. Don't necessarily agree about the need for a second order slope, that is not 'set in stone', first order works fine if the correct roll-in region is chosen.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Interesting read, confirms my thoughts mainly on the subject of super tweeters, my old cloth ears have deteriorated to about 13.5Khz max anyway, so anything beyond that is lost to the ether as far as I am concerned.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Analog Inputs: Pro-Ject Signature 10 TT & arm, Benz Micro LP-S, Michel Cusis MC, Goldring 2500 and Ortofon Rondo Blue cartridges, Hitachi FT5500 mk2 Tuner

Digital:- Marantz SA-KI Pearl CD player, RaspberryPi/HifiBerry Digi+ Pro, Buffalo NAS Drive

Amplification:- AudioValve Sunilda phono stage, Krell KSP-7B pre-amp, Krell KSA-80 power amp

Output: Wilson Benesch Vector speakers, KLH Ultimate One Headphones

Cables: Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA & Chord Epic 2 RCA, various speaker leads, & links

I think I am nearing audio nirvana, but don’t tell anyone.
