Well that was the plan, so will have to rethink it. Its not a disaster as I can remount them on the pcb without to much hassle.

Think I might hook up as is to see what it sounds like and test the board etc. then remount the sockets and finish the case off . Nothing lost there as I haven't cut the ply yet. Just need to add some ventilation into it.
All part of learning anyway so it's fine by me.

Andy I would say try it first, there are some grid stoppers on the pcb.
You may get some instability with squeaks and noises. I think it would be OK to fit additional small value grid stoppers in the grid wires, I can advise as necessary.
Drilled and filed the back plate for the fittings. Will polish it up a bit some time

Had a bash at polishing , pleased with the results Couple of deeper nicks still show slightly so may go back iver them some time.
