Sure, you can play semantics with the word "deserve"; I simply mean that they have the requisite heritage and status in English football to warrant being considered as potential title winners, much the same in that respect, as the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea.

Love them or loathe them, Liverpool fans are among the most passionate and vociferous in the world, much the same as Celtic fans [indeed there is a great affinity and connection between the two clubs, and also Glasgow and Liverpool as cities], so if Liverpool do win the title this season, I'll look forward to the city of Liverpool becoming a sea of red, and the incredible party atmosphere that will generate, just the same as when Liverpool and Celtic fans join together in stadiums singing a spine-tingling rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'!

I never felt that City deserved success and I had to wait forty four years for it. As such, I appreciate how lucky we are to be blessed with the owners we have because success would not be ours without the investment they made.

I wasn't playing semantics: there is no basis in sport for believing that previous success makes you more deserving of success in the future and that is how sport moves on - new blood brings new challenge and progress for the event itself.

I do agree with what you're saying. Quite simply, no-one deserves anything, unless they've put in the required effort to get it.

However, I've explained what I mean by 'deserve', in that context (although there may be better words), and stand by it

Ah, just read your post, Granty!

I fully support your logic, but do you think a draw would be good enough and reflect title-winning form? Think about it... Including the cup final, that would be NO wins in three attempts against Celtic this season, so for me that wouldn't be title-winning form, which is why I think Rangers will win, *if* they show the greater desire. As ever in old firm games, the team who needs to win most, and above all WANTS to win most, usually does....

For me though, if Rangers have got serious notions of becoming champions, then they *have* to beat Celtic at their ground, just as Celtic have done to Rangers at Ibrox this season. It's a mentality thing, and knowing how to take things to the next level.

Rangers have been playing very well recently and not losing games, but have yet to show that they've got what it takes to become champions and trophy winners, and so take that next step - and if they win tomorrow, for me they'll have finally taken that step. It's got to happen sometime, plus they'll still be smarting and out for revenge for the cup final defeat, which is why I'm predicting that they'll shock Celtic tomorrow by winning.

And THEN we'll have a real title race on our hands.... That's my prediction

No prediction from me, although we need to win more than Celtic do, if we lose then the league is out of reach probably. We have been better away from home than at Ibrox this season, so you never know.

Yup, you got it right. . Gers did well from the dec schedule, which was a tough on with so many away matches.

As you both say, it might be much more interesting now with both sides about level.
