hearts are a fan based club now, so it will have to be one that suits the majority of their backers. not sure strachan fits with that at moment, but he might..Robbie Neilson would maybe be another but is employed so Hearts wont be paying any compo packages.

I don’t think it will be Strachan, Robbie Neilson is a possibility but there are lots of mangers/coaches available. It all depends on how ambitious Hearts are feeling. As was shown by Steve Clarke your stock can rise if you’re willing to take the risk and come to Scotland.

Me too. He was a superb player and a clever manager. He did superbly with Celtic.

The only thing is, if he does get appointed as manager, is that his Hearts teams would defo take points off of Rangers and Celtic, so it would make things harder for us, but you've got to put that aside and want to increase the standard of the SPL and the teams there capable of giving Celtic and Rangers a better challenge, as that improves us as well as the rest of the league.

That's why I was pleased when Gerrard became the Rangers manager. I knew he could be potentially a big thorn in our side, but also a huge asset to Scottish football, and that it would ensure we can't rest on our laurels!

However, here's the thing... Would he have made it more difficult for Rangers to have won that match on Sunday, or possibly even had a chance of holding Rangers to a draw and taking the game to extra-time, and even penalties (and then of course anything could've happened)...?

In my view yes, simply because Levein's record in cup competitions is FAR better than his league one, and actually rather good! So for me, he should've been left in charge of the team for the cup semi-final, instead of that useless long-haired balloon, who posed as the caretaker manager, and I'm confident that the result would've been different.

Hearts would probably still have been beaten by Rangers, but in my view, not in the hapless manner that transpired!

Hearts were either less than proactive or we were just more up for it. Either way the guy who is there wont get the gig, thats for most likely...although tbh whoever get it, their job will be to beat the other 9 sides regularly, and give top 2 a game as much as they can.
The 2 Glasgow sides playing resources are way above rest of the league, and why no other team could really stretch celtic when gers were down the divisions and broke. Celtic were basically just turning up at times..
They know they are in a competition now so will bring best out of them.. you can see that in the Euro results of both sides

However, for the first 45 mins, Rangers huffed and puffed, so for me that wasn't a sign of being "up for it". They certainly didn't come flying out of the traps like Celtic did against Hibs... That's why I think if Levein had still been in charge of the team, he could've made it as difficult for Rangers as he did in the league game against them at Tynecastle, and possibly taken the game to extra-time and pens.

And to answer your question about what would've happened had Hearts been pumped 6-0 instead, with Levein still as the manager? Well, you simply would've sacked him then, and nothing would've been lost! Quite simply, there's no way that 'shuey MacPhee' could've done better, as he's simply not a first-team manager. It would've been a different ball game had Hearts appointed their new permanent manager before the game.

That's my view anyway, and why I think Hearts got it wrong by sacking Levein before the semi-final.
