Man Utd's brand is global and has been for many years. Their revenue income is only surpassed by Real Madrid & Barcelona. Even the financially doped clubs like Paris St Germain & Man City can't match Man Utd's revenue income. The Glaziers use Utd as a cash cow, and reinvest little if any of their own money into the club.

Their value is on the wane as the scale of debt has an impact on the sporting strategy. FFP was allegedly designed to protect clubs against dodgy owners

Debt has come down but at expense of the football side, which of course has affected share prices. Although it has dropped dramatically it increased a bit this year, certainly not due to football reasons tho lol. Maybe it dropped too low and became attractive again

The allegation, if proven, against Man City is over statement of asset values and income revenues to balance the books. There is plenty of conjecture surrounding FFP in general and UEFA's motives for applying it. I guess people will form their own view. Quite how Paris St Germain got away with seemingly very clear FFP breaches is another story of smoke and mirrors.

I agree, the debt loaded onto Man Utd when purchased by the Glazer family wasn't in the best interests of the club. My point was more so, the revenue income Man Utd are still able to attain, despite less success on the football pitch in recent years.

I think the issues with clubs being given external finances has always been with us, and lets face it, its really the only way the current top clubs stay there, by arranging this penalty to stop others joining their club. City could never have got where they are without it, and that applies to PSG too.
But Madrid, Barca etc have had it in past and are now very strong. they dont want others doing better.
Its a difficult one tbh. is it wrong for someone to push their cash in; maybe... but there again its a professional sport, and the side effects to the communities can be great...
One thing for sure, Uefa/Fifa calling anyone cheats is a laugh.

I agree Grant. The game has changed so much since Jack Walker's romanticised bankrolling of Blackburn. Was that any different to the state sponsorship of the likes of Man City & PSG? People will have differing views.

You're dead right, FIFA & UEFA, are in no position to take the moral high ground.

Anyway, my affiliation is to Spurs, a seemingly financially well run club, who just don't happen to win anything!

Yup, *if* the pitch is playable, and the wild weather doesn't look like abating anytime soon... The forecast for tomorrow isn't much better.

What dod you think of the Gerrard interview I linked to earlier?

yeah saw the interview, we'll see what happens this week, if the players can get back to where they were before the break, a couple of big games that must be won.
