    Default Ebay question.

I have had a case settled with a refund for an item that didn't arrive. The seller used Hermes probably enough said, but it is not surprising when they have 2 tracking sites, both of which were saying different things. Should I leave negative feedback? The site boasts "Fast and Free" delivery By the way if you have an hour or two to spare read the Trustpilot feedback on Hermes.

If Hermes lost the parcel its not the sellers fault is it . Did you ask the seller to use a particular courier ?

Hi Al, I was not aware of how the item was to be delivered it just said "Fast and Free". This is the first time this has happened in over 10 years of buying on ebay. I suspect that Hermes has it's good and bad experiences like any other courier company. However, if the dreadful feedback given by both senders and receivers is true then any trader would/should be aware and avoid them. So...is it the traders fault?

No...I've been using Hermes to send parcels for years...and only had one problem, where a turntable I sent, turned up with a cracked lid..They quickly reimbursed me for the damaged item....which I forwarded to the buyer, as he was happy to keep the turntable with the broken lid...The compensation more than covered the cost of the replacement lid...whether he bought one or not..I don't know...Humans err..no one is perfect imho...Al..

So Hermes are not really doing that badly in the scheme of things....I know I sound very pro Hermes...but they really have been excellent for me...and I've used them for years....

Hi Alan, I was just a bit miffed by the attitude of the seller......which was......nothing. I have decided to leave no feedback.

IMHO, there is a duty on the seller to be able to demonstrate the goods reached the buyer, after all the buyer made sure the payment got to the seller. When I sell on ebay, I always use tracking for mine and the buyers protection. Unless the buyer can show the item has been delivered, you have cause to make a claim under ebay rules. The seller has the contract with the courier, not you.

The buyer was protected and got his refund for an item he didn't receive..how can the seller demonstrate that the goods reached the buyer???..once he has passed the goods to the courier, it is the couriers responsibilty thereafter to get the parcel to the customer...sometimes parcels go missing...that's why parcels are insured and customers are protected by ebay policy..Hermes do use tracking and I for one have had no problem with that part of the company...infact I have only had 1 problem in all the years I've used them...and then that was rectified very quickly...
