Whenever you mentioned MBLs I had pictured a Naim speaker maybe a successor or big brother to the SBL.. Now I've seen what they are I understand how your speaker swapping exploits were ended!!

I do like the look of that LA Audio amplifier Jerry.

I heard a Benchmark DAC1 in a room at Cranage and was mighty impressed, was surprised at the age of the design.

Yes, I was very pleasantly surprised how good it sounds. The best DAC I've had in my system by a fair margin.

I'm on the lookout, in a low key kind of way, for a used DAC3 which is the current model, I think. Although it's said by some to be a bit laidback compared to the DAC1, which makes me a bit wary.

Very interested in your Auralex ProPads, quite a bit cheaper than the Townshend bars we're successfully using here.

Yes, it was other folks' positive experience with the Townshend Podium stands that inspired my search for a cheaper alternative.
I've not come across the Townshend bars.

I have no way of comparing the effectiveness of Auralex and Townshend products, but certainly the verbal descriptions of the benefits are remarkably similar.
The larger Propad XL seems to be rarely stocked in the UK, I was lucky enough to come across a dealer selling his last pair at half price.

I had my Townshend Glastonbury speakers sitting on.......Wine Corks.....for a while, once.
    Corking sound?

I like cork for vibration cutting. Used on space shuttles apparently (though for heat resistance) and I like Iberian cork oak forests.

Wobbling the speakers worked well, so I am now wobbling the amp.

Using these springy things, as recommended by a kind and thoughtful AOSer ...

To produce this (a springy thing at each rear corner as well) ...

My goodness, just the same type of improvement as in wobbling the speakers.
More vivid and present. Imaging more 3D and, err, vivid. That word again.
Wobbliness seems to de-constrain the sound.

    Heh.
At the moment it is no longer for sale.
It definitely seems to like wobbling.
