I don't think so - I may well have posted that I wasn't enamoured of particular class D amps - the Crown XLS1500 comes to mind , and various incarnations of the TA2022 chip - but the good'uns have been much enjoyed chez-moi.

Anyhoo, the Marantz hits the spot dead centre for me.

I like the looks. But not the power output. But I would say that

    Yes, interesting comment.

I originally fell in love with the t-amp class D "mini amps" - typically 8wpc using the TA2020 chip - for their musicality, imaging solidity and speed with transients; palpable presence for £peanuts!

But the higher power class D I've tried just tended to smooth things over - Crown XLS1500, Virtue Audio amp, the one that 'tubehunter' put together, Topping TP60 etc.
Some folks love the smooth sound, but it's not for me.

I suspect, after thinking about it, that the Marantz may well be the first class D amp with significantly greater than 8wpc that I have really liked.

It would be interesting to try the big Audio Research and Jeff Rowland class D amps and find out how they sound, but I haven't come across those.

I felt the same about Class D Jerry (smoothing important aspects over).

Tried this and have now been convinced its possible to have a good'un for peanuts . . . or at least for pistachios

I love me a T-amp too but this has more of everything.

Marantz looks nice. All-in-one's are becoming more appealing to me these days . . . Like Grant's Quad also.

That's interesting, Chris. We do seem to be hearing things in the same way with class D.
The Marantz has full remote control, a very decent headphone amp and [shock horror] bypassable tone and balance controls.
    And it looks seriously cute.
I do seem to have fallen deeply in love with it.

    Marantz HD-AMP1 --> <-- Me.

I've just had a 'forum friend' round - so tidied the old place up a bit.
Good time to take some pics of the current setup!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Heehee - you got that right - the big kitty is draped over a couple of 2x4 foot GIK acoustic panels.
