Hi Lawrence
Here's a side view ( the best I can do without disconnecting and moving it).
From your description, it looks quite long so I guess it is an Octave?
And as you surmised, including the sockets at the back and the switches at the front it is indeed 24cm!
So an Octave it is.
Yay.

I'm gone.
New DAC arriving tomorrow - there should be no ambiguity about the model with this one.

New and not quite so new DACs

Ah that is where the Black Dragon flew to.
I was tempted.
Be interesting to read your views on how it differs to the Metrum house sound

I was interested in that one as well, looking forward to your findings.

A few hours with it so far ...
The most immediately obvious excellence is wonderful 3D layering in depth, best I've heard. Really solid, well focussed image placement on a 3D stage.
Very detailed and fast, a really good spang on plucked instruments. (A must for me.)
Powerful and dynamic, real heft behind the sound.
Nicely rich tonality in the mids - woodwinds suitably plangent. Very nice!
Doesn't synergise well for me with gear/cables that have a tendency to brightness, definitely a wide-open sound - may have to look at amps with this DAC.
Very pleased with this, very good initial impression - I've been exploring a range of DACs recently but I may settle with this one for a while.
The Black Dragon has a very good rep, and I can hear why. Good DAC!
