Here is another one that you really should have, good old rock 'n' boogie. I saw them live in 1976 at Reading Festival, unbelievably good, the whole place just danced at 4:00 in the afternoon for 1.5 hours, just amazing, then followed by a young Aerosmith if I remember rightly, I had had a few. Overall the Doobies sold over 40 million units (albums) worldwide throughout their career. I am missing their first eponymous album and 5 others but have most from 72-89.

The Doobie Brothers ‎– The Captain And Me
    Label:Warner Bros. Records ‎– K 46217
    Format: Vinyl, LP, Album
    Country: Italy
    Released: 1973
    Genre: Rock
    Style: Classic Rock

A fantastic album if memory serves.

But strike me down, I ain't heard it since I wore flares & platforms.

    Essential indeed.

It’s very weird, I’ve got circa 2K albums, yet I don’t own the majority of these ‘essentials’ .

I nominate Dead Can Dance ‘Aion’:

How about ‘Mezanine’ by Massive Attack’?

    ‘Dummy’ by Portishead?

‘Wish You Were Here’ by Pink Floyd?

Hawkwind ‘Space Ritual’ (though personally I prefer PXR5, Levitation, Hawklords etc).

Oh, you gotta have Gong ‘Camembert Electrique’:
