I had a talk with Judi, across all the amps tested the panel found the fallowing

    Hypex amp with 0.0015 THD+N
    1. DacBerry pro+
    2. Katana SQ AND Primo
    3. Boss AND iQAudio DAC pro

    Rotel RB-1552mkII measured at 0.03 THD+N
    1. Katana SQ AND Primo
    2. Boss (not really shure about this placement)
    3. DacBerry pro+ AND iQaudio DAC pro

This was a double blind test. I think that at this level the differences are rather small and it comes down to preferences . All the tested DACs were found pleasant to listen to.

Has anyone had a try of the DacBerry Pro+?

99 bucks for a top pi dac seems very reasonable to me.

Don't think they're on general sale yet but I may try one when they do...

    Judi states:
"The PecanPi was inconspicuous, which means it has mastered all disciplines well."
    Also
"Here, in this round all boards were rated first class."

    https://forum.volumio.org/volumio-so...50.html#p64189

So I am in agreement with assessment of other members that in the end it boiled down to prefrence as all devices were rated as first class. Also the Amps seemed to make a big difference in the results so the DAC + AMP combo is a big portion of the results.

I am planning on sending them my BOSC amp for future evaluations.

From all of the units tested the PecanPi is the only one that offers a built in Hi-Fi headphone amplifier. It is also the only device which offers XLR connections without requiring modifications/soldering.

With the XLR connection you would get an extra 6dB of SNR.

All units were evaluated using RCA.

It looks like the PecanPi was not a part of all tests because they ran out of time:

"We did second round on analog amp only with the 5 boards, because short of time (after 10pm), as i wrote before. PecanPi could have won round two, but we don't know now."
