Default New (hopefully last for a long while) speakers

Just arrived 90 mins ago courtesy of a generous Wam taxi from Wam member GLB. Sounding superb as expected. No room issues either which is great, I did have a few concerns.

Looks nice. Looking at them reminds me of the Mission 753 a little bit.

Yes slightly kitsch wooden side panels in common, but the drivers and cabinets of these are a few levels up from the good old missions.

You haven't actually said what they are and I don't recognise the model.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    They look pretty serious.

Ah sorry I thought everyone knew them, Ruark Solstice, basically a more practical scaled down Excalibur. Or if you like, a massively scaled up Crusader, although I think these are the reference range with better components. Review to follow when I've familiarised myself with their sound.

In the non-rarefied high end world we used to live in, I'd say they are. But compared to some stuff out there now they're rather old hat. Still good enough for me though.

GLB deserves a very big pat on the back for getting those big things to you !!!

Especially as he was just behind me in the queue and could have bagged them himself if he hadn't offered to collect them for me. Now that's a good guy. Hopefully what comes around goes around, good karma etc. Needless to say he has first dibs.
