In what way did you (indirectly) waste your money? Are you saying that the Stannah stairlift you bought is a useless piece of crap? Or the "free" clock radio that came with your funeral plan never materialised? Or were you left reeling from QuickQuid's obscene APR?

If you had a trip or fall at work, you could actually end up better off financially.

I agree, but perhaps the wider and more important issue is to examine why so many folks these days have an insatiable desire to watch that drivel in the first place...? Or other such idiocy, like "Gogglebox'?

I mean, I honestly can't think of anything I'd least rather follow than the tacky and sordid affairs of a bunch of moronic tattooed, toothless chavs, or tales of their in-bred sprogs, spawned from shagging their own cousins - or watching other people, sat in their front room watching the bloody TV...

Quite frankly, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes! What exactly is the world coming to that such mindless nonsense is now considered as 'good entertainment'??

Haha - too right! It's also one of the reasons why I always record (or watch on catch-up) any programme shown on a minor commercial TV channel, so as simply to avoid the indescribably and unbelievably sad, slash-your-wrists-to-type adverts!

It is my money. Commercial channels are funded by advertisements, the cost of which are passed on to the buyers of the products advertised. Even if you don't own or watch television, you end up paying for it (at least in part).

Recording and catch-up is the way we always do it. As I've suggested before, the advertisers will be well aware that we are doing this and I expect they will counter with more 'product placement', and I'm fine with that.

Someone posted earlier about the appalling quality of daytime TV, but that doesn't need to be an issue any more, thanks to catch up, Netflix, Prime etc. No excuse to be watching daytime crap, unless you are lazy, tight, or just in denial about your crap tastes.
