    Default Hello from Canada

    Hello All!

I've been following some of your threads so thought I'd join in and try to contribute a little bit to the hobby we all love.
I'm Shawn and I live in the beautiful, desert like, Okanagan Valley, BC which is also home to Canada's wine country.

Music lover since I could walk I got involved with audio as soon as I got my first paycheque and haven't looked back.

After many years in hibernation I got bit by the audio bug again a few years ago and the system has pretty much been renewed over the last 18 months.

    It's current manesfestation is:

Vinyl: Rega Planar25 w/ Tangospinner inner platter, 24V motor & TTPSU, RB250/Tecnoweight/Pete Riggles VTAF, DV 20X2H
    Valab LCR1-MkIII

Purchased and enroute but haven't yet received is an Audiomods Series 6 tonearm w/micrometer vta.

Digital: Cambridge Audio DacMagic & laptop (mostly cds burned to flac file via JRiver 24.0)

    Amp: Exposure 2010s2

Cabling: Audio Sensibility - Statement ICs & Testament speaker cable

Speakers: rotating as req'd - Totem Dreamcatchers, Spica TC60s, PSB GT1s.

Music, mostly vinyl centric, leans heavily towards jazz, rock and orchestral.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hello Shawn. Welcome to AOS.

Interesting to see you have Spicas. You don't hear much about them these days, but they do have devotees.

There's a lot going on here, so just join in any chat that interests you.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Thanks everyone.

Start of the Victoria Day long weekend here so get 3 days of R&R so there'll be lots of tunes & drinks as the wife & I are just a couple of DINKSAH (Dbl Income No Kids At Home)

Trying to be patient while awaiting the arrival of the new Audiomods 6 arm to install. There's going to be a TT shootout between the Rega 25 and an Ariston RD 11 Superieur I have in reserve. The winner will stay on & the loser will have to find a new home 'cause I'm a ruthless bugger!
