No, no scratch - must be the way the camera flash catches the veneer grain.

No that's pretty normal. I thank god I don't have a car or I'd have far more than six pairs.

Yes, they are good.
I had a 'modern KEF' itch that needed to be scratched and these did that very nicely.
Precise, fast and open sounding - this generation of UNI-Q driver works well.
Bass is taut and controlled, if you want bloom and warmth you probably need to look elsewhere - old school KEFs would do that.
