    Default Installing unswitched plug sockets

Can we still legally install these or do we need an electrician?

If your replacing old for new it used to be legal to do it yourself as of part p 2005 regs.
    Might have changed tho.
If in doubt get a spark

There is one circumstance where I have found a switched mains plug to be useful.

I have a powerful amp to drive my subs. The inbuilt on/off switch seems to make hard work of the turning off process. It is recessed and difficult to access for a clean turn off and I can definitely hear sparking inside the switch. So the on/off duties are left to the mains socket
