    Default Stroboscope

Been wanting to check the speed on my TT as its a belt drive, sounding a bit off at the minute. See that those cardboard stroboscopes on ebay are £12! Is there anywhere to download the pattern free? Just don't like paying £12 for a bit of thick paper!! Was also wondering about the possibility of buying a universal power supply for turntables, using the TT's 3 din plug (standard UK household plug).

    This is worth a look:

It compares a number of techniques, and comes to the conclusion that a phone app is best. The RPM app seems to be Apple only, but there are similar apps for Android.

I’ve used the Turntabulator app on my phone, and it does work! But I’ve found that by moving your phone closer to the edge or closer to the middle will fudge the reading. It’s good for a quick and easy reading, but I wouldn’t say it was the last bit on accuracy. I suspect the laser RPM reader would be most accurate, stick a small mirror on the edge, Point the laser, leaves little room for error.
