    You might find that if you change back again it will be fine. The valve sockets sometimes need a re-insertion (ooh er missus) to make sure of a good contact.

    Thanks Alan will try again as you suggest. BTW one of the Mullards "flares" briefly when turned on initially but settles down ok and plays fine, is this something to be concerned about?

    No nothing to be concerned about, it is just the low temperature surge of the heater element.

    Some mystery caps from Valab, metalised polyprop at £3 a shot so I thought Id try them out sometime instead of the Wimas. no idea of orientation if needed though lol.

    I don't think they are poled? Is that the right word?

    Bung them in, they'll be fine.

    What tolerance are they?

    Bipolar? Will chuck em in Not a clue about tolerance, but they add fantastical good clear air sound ...or something .apparently



    I'll put them in in the next couple of weeks when I have some time.

    I have some tasty alternatives on standby once I've had a listen to them .

    All working again , the eagle eyed will note the Tanalum resistors are in to . I put this down to impatience! lol Though might as well do these to.
