    Default B&W d5 tweeter?

Can anyone please identify the square backplate tweeter from a D5, all I can find are the oblong plated ones, doesn't help when I don't even know the manufacturer.

The no.7240 is stamped on the back of the magnet if this helps at all.

    Hi Martin,

They did use a Fane tweeters in them but that is stamped on the rear of the plate at the top.

I have owned a few D5 (in fact may still have a FWO pair) and seem to recall that there may have been alternatives versions on the tweeter. The kelvar woofer appeared to be a constant.

Thank you for taking the time to unearth that info Martin, most helpful.

I've now got my ebay watch set,so hopefully just a matter of time 'til something turns up.

You are welcome Martin. Always enjoyed the D5. Great performers for their size. M

I have always fancied trying a pair, but prices seem to be rising.
There is a pair on eBay for £100, or best offer.
They look quite good, but the Seller hasn’t removed the grilles even though I asked.
I’m always suspicious if they don’t respond to a request for pictures...

Thanks for the heads up Martyn, unfortunately been out in the wilds for a couple of days and me being a luddite non-smartphone user, missed them.

Pretty typical of my hifi adventures in general really, always in the wrong place at the wrong time
