    Default Technics SL-150 refurb

I have been working in this project since late last year. It is one of three Technics I have refurbished this last 6 months but the other two had family deadlines and took priority!

It is a SL-150 with a Micro-Seiki MA-202 arm on a Magna Audio ebony armboard. Headshell is an Audio Technica MS-9. The phono cable was built by Yannis Tome. The mat is a Oyaide BR-12.

I have also briefly tried it with a Rega RB202 intended for another project.

Full details and pics of the rebuild can be found on the Wam, search for "Technics SL-150 refurb".

This TT is intended for my study system but I intend to give it a good workout first in the main system to get a feel of what it can do.

I will be trying it out with a number of MC and MM carts, a job made much easier by the detachable headshell and on the fly VTA adjustment !

I would like to thank all the following AOS members for their help in making this project possible.

Robbiegong for the Micro-Seiki arm and all the invaluable advice.

Jac Hawk for the very nice Rega RB202.

Phonomac for recapping the PCB, the spotless MS-9 headshell and all the helpful answers to my stream of questions.

Steve at Magna Audio for his boundless skills, perseverance and endless patience in building the excellent ebony armboard to fit the challenging SL-150 cutout despite not having the deck to hand!

Yannis Tome for coming up with such a neat low profile and narrow phono cable that fits the SL-150 with no butchering of the baseplate needed.

    Steve for some impromptu soldering.

Shaun at Soundsupports for providing a modified 1210 Rega armboard to suit the different cutout of the SL-150.

    Hi Steve,

Yes I am very pleased with it. It is stable after a couple of seconds, then no drift whatsoever. It helps that I run a power regerator but its excellent on mains too.

Thanks for the soldering offer, I will certainly contact you. I can also bring the Nordost cable for you to try if u like?

    Talk soon,

    Graham

Thanks Robbie . Your lovely arm looks very much at home on the 150. They are both from the same period. I have just fitted a 150Sa cart which was made for the MS-9 headshell!

Thanks again for selling me your arm and making this project possible
