They did a similar thing when B&Q launched Trade Point. Made us sound like football fans. Even the skip-fillers aren't that bad.

Oh no, we were far too conservative for that sort of thing, unlike the French, who were happy to promote 'Les ragues du jam'. But then they'll eat just about anything.

If you said right no TV for a year, could you do it? I think I could now.

Theres not much that I would actually miss. I would blank off the wall plate and just use the screen for computer games or films.

I feel better when I havent seen the news on tv for a few weeks. As for the adverts, they were always naff really and if you had no tv you wouldnt have to put up with any of them.....freedom!

My uncle had an interesting theory on TV ads. He said that if they show the product doing something then it should be able to do it in real life - crazy idea I know!

He thought up that nugget of wisdom after watching those Citroen ads where the cars turned into dancing robots.

Well how are Citroen supposed to show their cars? Reliably starting and running faultlessly? They don't do that in real life either

The advert I dislike the most at the moment shows some woman eating a yogurt, and her dog comes into the room, wanting his walkies. Next news the dog in dressed in a sort of Victorian swimsuit. I can put up with that, but then the hubby enters the room, sees the dog and then pulls this face which is wrong in so many ways it makes me feel a bit ill.

Thanks to Sky + (other recording methods are available), there's no need to see adverts any more. The television companies will be well aware of this and so product placement will become more of a thing. I don't have a problem with this.
