    Default Cambridge Audio Amp advice

Sony AV is on it's last legs unfortunately so I'm looking for a new amp. My main focus was that it needed to be under £300 and have a remote for volume. I have my heart set on a CA now (since my dac is CA also) The models I'm looking at are the Topaz: https://www.richersounds.com/search/...opaz+amplifier

Just looking for some guidance on whether the AM10 is worth the extra £60 over the AM5? If the SR10 is worth the extra £20?

Anyone have any serious criticisms of these amps?

    Thanks!

The AM10 seems to have more weird and wonderful inputs and 5 watts a channel more. 5 watts is nothing so unless you need the mp3 front panel connection or whatever I'd say no.

On the other hand if it were me and it has to be Cambridge I'd go for a second hand A1 which I reckon would be better - and cheaper. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...r&_sacat=14969

Or if you can find one a late 1980s P70 which is better than the A1 again and should be about a ton in good order.

    Something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cambridge...MAAOSwOnBcm1Uw ??

What benefit does that offer other than the price? - I do like the price however

They sound pretty good that's why - but ideally you want the older model like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cambridge...UAAOSwm1Vcqwk-

I have a Topaz am1 and I think it's more balanced than the much more expensive 651A. Although I use a modified Quad 306 and an Onix oa21, I could happily live with the budget am1 (no remote though).
