This morning's news reports are saying how some of the firefighters were climbing up the structure in the flames. Also, hopefully, the main towers will not collapse after the intense firestorm.

So perhaps they did a fantastic job risking their lives. One firefighter badly injured.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I know it's difficult to know what the fire service were doing but I wouldn't want to live in one of those huge old apartments buildings in Paris. My sister is in the fire service here so I'll give her some stick like I did over grenfel, she gets right out of her pram if I criticise them.

Quasimodo walks into a bar and orders a whisky. The bartender asks, ‘Bell’s alright?’ Quasimodo replies, ‘Mind your own f*ing business.’”

Its all very sad but I find myself immediately wondering who has been so careless and whether the workmen realise the responsibility they have during these renovations. Im sorry but the cynic in me tends to look at an insurance job first

That gut feeling that its being done on the cheap and they are all probably smoking away in the rafters. There have been other buildings that have gone up during restoration and I wonder whether they actually take it seriously or employ bodgit and scarper to save a few quid.

Most likely an electrical fault started a dropcloth or similar rag type thing burning. It's usually electrical faults these days. I think an insurance scam is highly unlikely.
