Default What is your turntable history

My 1st table was a Goldring GL 78 in the early 70s.
Next was Technics SL 150 with Sme 3009
Then came a Thorens Td 160 with the Sme.
Next up was a Linn sondek again with the Sme,this one did not stay long!
Then came a Cranfield rock with Excalibur arm, great turntable i think i read somewhere only 30 of these were ever made.
Which gave way to a Nottingham analogue hyperspace with a few different arms,n/a space arm,Helius orion,Sme v,Origin live Conqueror.
Now Nottingham Analogue Dais with Origin live 12 inch Enterprise.
    What did you start with?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

First turntable was some cheap Hitachi belt drive from Richer Sounds, then a Revolver Rebel for many years. Sold up on vinyl for many years and then got back in via a Creek Wyndsor which I got discounted from Superfi moved on quickly when a P/X it for a Orbe with Rega 300. Had that for a few years and then moved to my current SME 20/2 with a SME V arm. Suspect will stay this way until I retire and splurge some of my lump sum on 30/2, Brinkmann or TW.

late starter to vinyl, started in early 00's with a Project RPM 6, realised vinyl listening needed quite some commitment and moved it on. Eventually the lure drew me back in and i plunged for a plug and play Rega RP3 which really didn't do much for me truth be told, so 'upgraded to a Rega RP6 which i used for a couple of years when i happened in 2013 to hear a Funkfirm LSD and that blew me away. Traded the Rega there and then and still own the LSD (its spinning as i type this) and absolutely love it.

In my main system there have been surprisingly few, as follows:

    - Garrard 210 autochanger (in a Bush record player)
    - BSR P268 (In an Amstrad record player)
    - BSR something else (in an Amstrad Tower System)
    - Garrard 630s (In a Rank Radio music centre)
    - Hitachi PS-17
    - Garrard 301
    - Nakamichi TX-1000

However, outside of the main system it is alleged by some that I have owned 90% of the turntables ever made since about 1965. I couldn't possibly comment...

    Not that many, really.
Started out with the classic Dual cs505
Then an LP12, which was upgraded through the years, Basic-Ittok-Ekos, and also Cirkus, Lingo etc etc.
Eventually got cheesed off with Linn upgrade paths & prices, so about 12 years ago I changed it for a
Michell Orbe with the Ekos. Still got that now & rate it very highly.
I'd love to listen to a decent Avid, but I will very likely stick with the Orbe for a good few years.
