Default Kegworth - so who's going?

I thought it might be a good idea to post this question free of any 'baggage'.

With the Wam and PFM in attendance, I feel it would be nice to show our support for our AoS members who are making the effort. I realise that it is a considerable trek for many members (although probably no worse than any other venue), but I for one will doing my damnedest to make it there, to meet Audio Al, Bencat, and anyone else who may be making the trip.

Marco - I only live about 130 miles from the venue, so no need for the private jet, but if the Brabster is still available (I believe that hen party have cancelled), that would be ideal. As long as you're wearing your chauffeur cap.

Who else will be likely to make the trip, as often these things can 'snowball' (oh if he's going, I will too). Similarly if my non-attendance would increase the numbers I'm prepared to bow out

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Thanks Grant, I've already started doing the spadework (putting bins out, making cups of tea without being asked). Brownie points are every bit as valuable as air miles

All being well , I am going. There is always some great surprises
ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

None of my friends have any real interest in things Hi Fi, so apart from my own stuff, the only systems I normally get to hear are ones put together by traders. It would be nice to hear some 'real world' set ups.

Well I am going, with my buddy "Wizmax" from the Wam. He is putting a system together from vintage gear mainly, with a Rogers amp & speakers plus his Technics SP10/Encounter/Ortofon Rohmann & has kindly allowed me to add my 401/Jelco 750D/Highphonic MCR5 & Denon DL-102 mono to the mix. We thought it was a good idea to have two turntables as there are so few these days compared to all the digital based systems.
