    There's a site where you can compare downloads with no jitter and with shedloads of jitter added. I've just been looking for it but I can't find it right now. It sounds exactly like tape wow. If I can find it I'll post it up.

    Indeed. That was a key part of the improvements to my vintage Sony DAS-R1, which I had extensively modified by Audiocom.     See post #5, from Mark, in particular. He truly is an expert on all things digital.

    What I found was that it removed much of the 'glare', which in my experience affects ALL forms of digital replay, although to varying degrees depending on a number of factors, and which can make for a fatiguing sound, over long periods, and crucially that you often don't realise exists until it's gone!

    Done properly, it's a fundamental way of improving any DAC, the effect of which is maximised when similar attention is paid to power supply arrangements.

    I am glad I don't take much of what is said on this subject too seriously here as there is a lot of bullshit,misunderstanding and plain wrong *facts* being suggested on this post as there are on many of the posts concerning digital audio.

    I would recommend that if folk want to really know any of the facts surrounding digital audio they head over to the HB project where they can learn the realities of digital audio.

    Using a Digione which has pretty good figures to go with its pretty good sound

    DigiOne has 2 outputs: BNC and plain RCA (coaxial). On both, we have achieved jitter of 0.6ps (1 picosecond – time taken by light in a vacuum to travel approximately 0.30 mm).

    Noise. 50uV (batteries have about 12uV of noise).

    What we achieved, in our opinion and based on public measurements, is the best transport at any price point (yes, even when compared with 5k USD/EUR transports).
    So they say.

    Have to say im pleased with it and for a ton, value for money is excellent....unbeatable i'd think.

    Respectfully disagree, I would not recommend that site on the whole. Some of what he says is correct but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Most of the issues he talks about as being a big deal make no difference to what we can hear.


    As usual with audio mistakenly linking a cause to an effect can lead to some wrong (and possibly expensive) conclusions.

    I would certainly take his advice than yours Martin. With respect I don't think you are technically knowledgeable enough concerning digital audio to be a useful guide as to what is right or wrong in digital audio.

    You may have opinions but I feel that is all they are.

    Lol... There will be glare, as with ALL digital replay equipment; it's just that often you don't realise it's there (like me) until it's gone! However, I don't expect you to accept that until/if you hear it for yourself
