    Default Garrard 401 for sale

Up for sale is a very nice condition Garrard 401 flush strobe in an oak plinth.
I have too many turntables and can't justify it just sitting here looking pretty. Someone needs to be using it!
Price includes the Perspex cover although it's not a perfect fit.
Also included is the Trans-Fi Resomat, original Garrard mat and platter rings.
Please note there is no power cable attached as it originally had a Loricraft power supply. Collection only from mid Wales or meet up within an hours drive of Welshpol.
    Price is £800

Think that's the first flush strobe 401 I've seen. Did it precede or supersede the other one (which I had in 1970 ) ? Nice functional plinth with smooth lines and tripod mounting. Is that a 12" arm mounting, b.t.w.?

Yes, the earliest have two spark suppressors which are noticeable underneath. On the very earliest the strobe light wasn’t on all the time, you pressed down on the speed trim dial to turn it on, both these versions having flush strobes, and also the next version with one spark suppressor built in to the power switch. The ones after this had raised strobes.

Don’t think firm dates are available as the records were destroyed in a fire.

Yes it is a 12" mounting but wouldn't be difficult to fit any length of arm really.

Could be interested in an exchange deal if anyone has a Radford power amp for sale.
This is in a really clean unmarked condition. You would be hard pushed to find one better.

    Willing to split....so
    401 motor unit £700
    Plinth £100
I would be able to post the motor unit but probably not the plinth.
Can take more pics for any serious enquiry.
    Thanks!
