“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

So now I got my DBT and a variety of different wattage bulbs does anyone have any tips with regard to procedure?

I've been reading up on the web (and asking a few friends) for advice.

I want to see if I can use the DBT as a form of variac with the different wattage bulbs as I have 2 original electrolytes in place relating to the transformer, (as well as guard against shorts). The rest of the circuit has been replaced with new resistors and caps.

I'm thinking, with the circuit exposed for visual / smell inspection:

    1. No valves - DBT 25W / 40W / 60W / 100W

    2. Rectifier in place - DBT 25W / 40W / 60W / 100W

    3. All valves, Output, rectifier, power, in place and dummy load - DBT 25W / 40W / 60W / 100W

    4. Full mains and play music

Probably overkill I guess The amp output is 15 - 20W.

I have a Variac I'd be happy to loan you, but I'm in Leicester. I could post it, but it isn't lightweight...

Thanks for the offer, that's very kind of you. Yes, maybe it's a bit too far, probably cost £30 there and back via courier.
