    Default RIP Mark Hollis

Very sad to hear of the passing of Mark Hollis. He retired from the music business shortly after his excellent solo record in 1998 however his work as Talk Talk has been a constant companion for me as it has for countless others over the years. Never ones to toe the line, Talk Talk could have carried on making pop records but he, along with the other members of Talk Talk produced three last albums of stunning beauty and creativity. If you havent already, check out Colours of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. RIP Mark Hollis

    R.I.P Mark.

Brilliant musician. Very shocked at his passing.

Every collection should have some Talk Talk.

Spirit of Eden is in my favourite top ten. Talk Talk albums were nothing like their hit singles which came as a surprise the first time I heard one. But once heard never forgotten and played regularly in this house.

So long Mark and thanks for the music. Intelligent, well produced and yet catchy pop. He could put in a double bass, a bunch of chanting kids or some zoo residents and it would always sound like it belonged there. I'll have a mini tribute later with my old vinyl copies of Spirit of Eden and Colour of Spring.

    Very sad news.

Do yourself a favour and play the later albums including the self titled Mark Hollis. Its interesting to see the way he wanted to go and an absolute pleasure to listen to. I had the satisfying feeling that he had done more than enough for my record collection

I know he retired from music a while ago but it gives me a really empty feeling knowing he is no longer with us.
